Investigation Into Joplin Council Members Nearly Done
A private investigator hired to look into Joplin City Council members Bill Scearce and Mike Woolston is expected to release his findings the week of February 3rd. City Attorney Brian Head tells News Talk KZRG what could happen if either man is found responsible for wrongdoing:
"It would depend on what the wrongdoing was. If it was simply a violation of the city's ethics policy, there could be some sort of discipline up to and including removal from the Council. If it's worse, then other avenues will be taken."
Scearce is being investigated over an FBI probe into an illegal gambling operation being run out of a building he leased. Woolston is accused of using his position to make unfair property deals. Both deny any wrongdoing.
