Mercy Hospital Joplin held a ceremony Thursday to bless its new helicopter. It's one of four helicopters Life Line is using to transport patients. Life Line Medical Director Doctor Chuck Sheppard tells News Talk KZRG it's a unique helicopter.
"This is the first helicopter in Missouri that's capable of flying in low-ceiling areas, it's got terrain avoidance, it has radar, and has an auto-pilot. It all adds to the safety and care of our patients."
The helicopter is also staffed with medical personnel who can provide treatment as a patient is being transported to a hospital.
