Escapee Captured

A Joplin man who'd escaped from an Oklahoma prison last month was captured in Joplin Monday afternoon. Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland tells News Talk KZRG 27-year-old Alvin Boyer was at a home just outside Joplin near McClelland Park hiding in the attic.
"After a short conversation with him, he did come down from the attic and turned himself in.  He was taken into custody, as well as three other people who were at the residence.  They were arrested on outstanding warrants out of Joplin."

News Talk KZRG asked Copeland if Boyer had been in Joplin the whole time.

"I don't believe so.  We've had several reports over the last several days of him being at different places.  The owner of the residence on McClelland told us that he'd showed up a few days ago claims she was unaware that he was an escapee."

Boyer had been in the correctional center in McAlester for drug violations and jumping bail out of Ottawa County. He'd escaped October 26th.
