Webb City Teacher Accused of Sexual Contact with Student

A now former Webb City High School teacher is charged with having sexual contact with a student. 29-year-old Carrie Njoroge of Oronogo is the teacher in question; in a statement to News Talk KZRG, Webb City Superintendent Dr. Tony Rossetti says the district found out about the allegations last Thursday and notified local authorities. She resigned from her post as choir and music theory teacher the next day. You can read the full statement below:

On Thursday April 17, the District was made aware of allegations regarding Mrs. Carrie Njoroge, High School teacher, and possible conduct violating District policy. The misconduct was of a nature as to question the safety of our students; therefore the teacher was placed on administrative leave. At the same time the District also informed local authorities of those allegations. Subsequently, the teacher in question resigned their position on Friday, April 18th. At this time the District is aware of charges being filed against Mrs. Njoroge; however until resolution to these charges are determined, the District is unable to comment on the nature or students involved.

Needless to say the District is both shocked and saddened by these events; however we will continue to work with local authorities to bring resolution and accountability to all involved.

UPDATE at 12:02PM: Jasper County Sheriff Randee Kaiser confirms that while Njoroge has been charged, she has not yet been arrested:

"We do not have her in custody. There is a warrant that has been issued for sexual contact with a student, with a $3,500 bond."
