Richard on Joplin Mayoral Election Question

Should the Mayor of Joplin be elected by the public? That's a question the Charter Review Commission asked the public, and one News Talk KZRG asked Chairman and State Senator Ron Richard:

"I could live with whatever the group wants to do. I'm not going to argue one way or another, but I will say that when a man or woman is chosen by the Council, as the system currently works, you already have a group of people who believe they'll work well with the Council."

Currently, the City Council chooses the Mayor. The Commission recently wrapped up a series of public input meetings on possible changes to the City Charter.
