IRS Takes $20K from Joplin Doctor
It seems the May 2011 tornado is being used as an excuse for the IRS to take $20,000 from a Joplin doctor's bank account. That's according to Dr. Ed Conrad, who's been fighting them for rebate payments he says he's owed for switching over to electronic patient record-keeping.
"The excuse they used to say we failed to meet their requirements is that we didn't show them a booklet we got from our software company that explains how the encryption works and our safety precautions."
That book was lost to the storm two years ago. Conrad says he's not the only doctor in Joplin to implement the system in the hopes of getting the rebates, and he tells News Talk KZRG the IRS is also focusing on them now.
