In the next couple of years, students at Crowder College will soon have more options for places to live on campus. The college just got the green light from the board to go forth with a project to build new four-story dorm that'll house another 200 students. Director of Public Information, Cindy Brown tells News Talk KZRG, the college is working with the construction manager to finalize the plans.
"Our projected costs are about $7.5 million. We don't have any estimates yet. That's what we're working on. The board gave us the go-ahead to look for a construction manager to work with the architect to start finalizing plans."
Brown says they're building the new dorm to keep up with the demands of students who want to experience the full college lifestyle.
"With the number of students we have, and the different programs; we have a very limited space for new students wanting to come in and live on campus. We're looking to expand our dorms to allow for that college experience."
Crowder currently houses 185 students. They hope to have the project finished and students moved in by the Spring of 2015.
